dream houses

Warning! These houses are all seriously over budget but I could spend all day looking at luxury estates. They are however in the area where I'd like to move the family.

Well I can't believe that this time next week our house will be on the market. People still can't get over the fact that we are selling just after renovating. I know. I hear you. But really it's the best time to sell while everything is all sparkly new and not trashed by 4 little people. And trust me they are expert trashers.

And the one question everyone asks is where are you going? We've been a little hush hush on our search area because we might have to move to get the space we want. And then when I have said where I'd love to go, some people have turned up their noses at us, some don't want us to move anywhere from here but most agree that it's lovely out there. And you know what, it's our little family that comes first and we are growing at a fast rate and just need more space and lots of it. And if we can do it in Sydney in a lovely big house then why not move. I've found 2 amazing schools for my little ones too.........

But of course I love to go way over budget and pick pretty houses out there and dream about living in them. So these houses are all semi rural and in my dreams. Way out of budget (you'll need at least $3m for these babies) but dreamy and perfect for a large family. Just not perfect on the budget.

And so retro daddy asks me at the end of the day - were any of those houses you sent me on budget. Most days I answer yes, some days no. I was so carried away with the huge estates.

come dream with me....and would you like Pimm's with that? Have you seen a more beautiful tennis court setting?

All of these lovelies came from realestate.com.au. I spend a lot of time on there searching for retro daddy.

Wow! They are gorgeous. They look like they'd be big enough to lose yourself for a while! (I wish!!) LOL

Don't worry about other people, just do what works for you. And if you can find somewhere in Sydney with schools you like and the space that you need then go for it!

PS The Glenorie area is gorgeous!

Boo to all the whingers, but I have to put in my ten cents worth... I think you should come to Epping (and bring your Cinnamon Rolls!!)... for purely selfish reasons of course :) x

You can have all that just outside of Camden, its not too far from the city (1 hour)and the properties are gorgeous.
Boo to what others think, you do what you have to for your little family. Even though I maybe just a tad sad that its not me right now. My dream will come one day. Sigh!

That first house in your pictures I have loved for years. I am going to have to jump on realestate and see what it looks like inside. Corrie, don't worry what people say - Dural is a beautiful area and you will love it and with the cost of houses 'out there' it is nothing to be scoffed at. It is the only place in Sydney I would want to live. Can't wait to see what you end up choosing.

My personal favourite is the kitchen shot. They have a sign above the door saying "laugh". Oh yes, and if that was my house I'd be laughing as well while I baked in that beautiful kitchen before wandering out for a sundowner by the pool! I'd be laughing all day long! Happy house hunting Corrie. What matters most is that you and RD are happy with the area where your kids will grow up. Who cares what the neighbours think!!

To me, it looks like you are looking in the area where I grew up - Dural?? My parents still live there and love it. It has an amazing community and I swoon whenever I drive past some of the homes. My kids love to visit and spend hours running around their tennis court and exploring the bush. When we visited at Christmas time, they found a turtle in the creek that runs through the bush. It is the perfect place to grow up and I treasure the many years I spent there.

Oh come on! Don't do this to me again! Do you have any idea how many hours I wasted looking at dream house the last time you were looking?
Those houses are seriously stunning! I hope the cleaner comes with them cos with 5 little people I'm thinking they arnt staying looking like that! LOL

Can't wait for the next instalment of stunning houses that will have me wishing I was moving.

Good luck on your house search.

Dreaming right along with you. The couple of times we have bought, I always found myself wondering into the price range that was way over budget, kind of hard not too!
Some people can't help themselves can they, when it comes to offering up opinions that they should keep to themselves. Kind of like baby names, as soon as you mention a prospective name, someone will poo-poo it! I'm sure there is a perfect home out their for you.

Warning, warning, warning! Big yards =big hours doing/maintaining yardwork and fences! Believe me the novelty will wear off. Even if it is sitting on a mower( I do 2 hours every 5 days) it still takes time away from the other fun things that you and your family need. Buy near and go to a well maintained park instead. Unless of course you can afford to have someone come in and do it all for you. Absolutely agree with having enough room for a pool, trampoline and definately a big kitchen. It's so hard to get it all!

Oh I spend far too much time on that website! It's a bit dangerous :) But so fun to dream. I love the kitchen pictured there - amazing! I'm excited to see where you end up.

Wow you spent a lot of time on there searching for retro Daddy!!! I didn't no they sold men too! ;-)..... Ignore the moaners you go where you want to go just be careful of the land. When we moved to France we bought a place with 2.1/2 acres...it's lovely to have the space but boy is it hard work to keep it looking okay....I have to spend time cutting grass and weeding when I could be sewing.

How lovely. I too have spent a lot of time lately on Realestate.com but I am looking for houses in UTAH. I too have drooled over all those fabulous estates that are way out of our budget too. But then I think, he would clean that house? Back to reality. I haven't even a clue about the area we would be moving to, so I am just checking every area out. Might have to take a mini vacation out that way to see where we might want to live close enough to hubbies work. I also don't know where I will be working either. Well I know for whom, just not which location.

Oh how delightful Corrie. You know there was a time there where I would do the dream house searches, just for fun. So many of them came up looking like the ones in your pics. But oh my, they are so easy on the eyes ;o)
As for people's opinions, try not to let them phase you. It is yours and retro daddy's decision what you do for your family and as long as you're as happy as larry, then it doesn't matter :o) xo

I love Dural. It is a beautiful part of Sydney. If my husband didn't work near the city I would love to move there (having him home by 5:45pm each night has spoilt me!) Some of the houses are very pretty - our friends had a beautiful home there and it seems like a great place for younger children. Maybe your girls can get a pony?!!!!! There is a less expensive one up there at the moment that seems quite good http://www.realestate.com.au/property-acreage+semi+rural-nsw-dural-108606336
Hope you find the perfect place, I am sure you will. Look forward to more yummy food in your new kitchen!
